Summer Jobs: ACCES EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Thank you for considering employment with Toronto Cares Initiative non-profit organization, through the ACCES Employment Program, in partnership with Employment Ontario. We have several different positions available, but the following qualifications apply to all of them. 


Half of the positions will start in May 2023, the other half will start in July 2023! All employment terms will last 7.35 weeks at 35 hours per week, in addition to the 3 week ACCES training program. Job training provided!


  • Must not be in school during employment term (students on summer break or people out of school)
  • Must be between the ages of 18-30 years old
  • Must be an Ontario resident
  • Must complete a clear police background check ($20/students, $65/adults) at own expense within 21 days of start date
  • Some post-secondary education
  • Positions are work-from-home with occasional on-site work (near Eglinton Ave W & Dufferin St in Toronto, Ontario)
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently
  • Well organized
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Familiar with WhatsApp, Discord, Google Drive and other Google products
  • Requires access to a computer and reliable internet
  • Requires a dedicated landline/cell phone (not shared)
  • Requires government issued photo ID and proof of address
  • Three (3) weeks of paid employment training through ACCES Employment, such as resume building and job interview skills, prior to starting the position with Toronto Cares (to be completed upon or prior to hiring)

AVAILABLE JOB POSITIONS:

  • Grants Administrative Assistant (4 positions available)

This position has two main responsibilities, researching grants that are accessible to both non-profits and charities, as well as writing the grant applications. Previous grant writing experience is an asset. Occasional on-site attendance may be required, but is mostly a work-from-home position.


  • Accounting Bookkeeper (2 positions available)

This position requires experience with QuickBooks and Google Spreadsheet. Previous non-profit tax filing education or experience is an asset. Occasional on-site attendance may be required, but is mostly a work-from-home position.


  • Events Coordinator (2 positions available)

The main responsibility for this position is to  assist in coordinating our large Community Fair event. Events education or experience is an asset. Occasional on-site attendance may be required, but is mostly a work-from-home position.


  • Volunteer Coordinator (2 positions available)

This position requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills. The primary responsibility will be to communicate with current volunteers and recruit new ones. Strong organizational skills will also be required to create an up-to-date volunteer database. Previous volunteer coordination experience is an asset. Occasional on-site attendance may be required, but is mostly a work-from-home position.


  • Administrative Assistant (4 positions available)

This position is available to students who are entering or have completed their senior year of secondary school. This vacancy is best filled by someone who is a self-starter, but also able to follow directions while working independently. This position will be shared by two candidates who will be assisting the president of the organization with general day-to-day and organizational tasks. Occasional on-site attendance may be required, but is mostly a work-from-home position.


  • Social Media Manager (2 positions available)

This position is available to students who are entering or have completed their senior year of secondary school. It requires previous workplace or volunteer experience managing multiple social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. A successful candidate will be able to create and curate content and engage our online presence. Photography skills are an asset. Occasional on-site attendance may be required but this is mostly a work-from-home position.
